5/12/03: Update on the Proposed Transition from the Atlanta Empowerment Zone to the Renewal Communities Initiative

Councilwoman Debbie Starnes introduced a resolution at the 5/5/03 Council meeting authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contractual agreement with ANDP to formally incorporate the CoRA and transfer the oversight of the remaining Title XX funds and the Tax incentives associated with the RC to the CoRA. The Atlanta City Council CD/HR Committee met on Tuesday 5/12 and voted to hold the resolution in Committee for two weeks.  If passed out of Committee on the 26th, it is likely that the resolution will go before full council on Monday, 6/2 at 1:00 pm in the City Council Chambers.  If you have any concerns about the process, please be sure to be present at each of the aforementioned meetings so that they can be voiced at the appropriate time.
